Clean weld area. Remove all damaged and fatigued metal with Eutec ChamferTrode. Preheat the job to o o 400 C - 450 C and maintain this temperature throughout welding. Deposit with short arc gap keeping electrode perpendicular to welding direction. Peening of deposits and thorough cleaning of slag between passes is necessary. Air-cool the job to 200°C to develop uniform hardness. Transfer to a furnace at o o 550 C-600 C and temper 1 hour for every 25 mm thickness. Thereafter, remove to still air and cool.

Recommendations: Forging Dies, Punches, Inserts. High resistance to deformation at elevated temperature. Excellent compatability with die block steels. High impact resistance with good compressive strength. All position capability. Machinable with Tungsten Carbide tools. Joining and built - up on all forging tools. Repair of worn-out or damaged profiles. Terocote of complicated profiles requiring combination of high hardness, toughness and good machinability. Procedure: Clean weld area. Remove fatigued or damaged metal with EutecChamferTrode. Remove all sharp corners and projections. Grind all surfaces to remove oxides and other contaminants. Preheat if necessary for low carbon, air hardenable steels and cast iron. For cast iron cushion layer for Xyron 224 to be given. For air hardenable steel cushion layer of XHD 2222 to be given. Deposit the cobalt alloy. For low carbon steel the alloy can be deposited directly.

Cobalt alloy electrodes for producing excellent wear resistant overlays on carbon and alloy steels. Excellent results obtained even when high temperature service conditions prevail. Use short arc to deposit stringer beads. clean weld area in general it is not necessary to perheat but if the base material is highly carbonized it should be preheated to approximately 200deg.C parts can be built up to desired shape by using as many passes as necessary final dimensons may be obtained by grinding.
